Being as this restaurant is in swanky up and coming Asbury Park, I had high expectations. I'd already seen the menu and was interested in what was on it. However, when we got there, the service was atrocious! The manager or owner sat at the bar socializing the entire time, as customers sat, unhelped, for quite some time. His server was obviously lacking, nonefficient, and in the weeds. I had the menu for over 25 minutes before our order was taken! In addition, the server did not ask to get us a drink, and walked away before we could ask him for further assistance. I felt unwelcomed there. In addition, once the food was served, I was highly disappointed. For the price, the serving is so little. Not a very good value at all. After finishing eating, we waited for a very long time for our check... keep in mind the restaurant was not that busy. I felt like what we paid for was just to sit around... and wait. This restaurant comes highly unrecommended.

I had the some of the best nights at JR's this summer, Managment did an awesome job changing the place around. Looking forward to next summer

chifuwontonsoup wrote about Spicy Cantina

I think that the bartenders and the people at Spicys are great. I have been going there for years. the food is good, the pizza could be better but then its more of a mexican style place. I think the entertainment like Rich Myer is awesome and is a good night out. The Bartenders Their such as Alyson, Whitney, Jenna, Christina and my all time favorite Amy are awesome. I cant imagine any one writing a bad review or having anything bad to say about any of them. They are all professional and have ton of expeirence. So i find it hard to believe the last review. I think happy hour might have started a little to early for that person, but dont take my word for it, just stop in one night and have a good time.

raypetkevis wrote about Downbeach Deli

The Down Beach Deli is my favorite place to eat when I am down the shore. No matter what I am in the mood for there is something on the menu that will hit the spot. Not only do I eat there on a regular basis for breakfast, lunch or dinner, but I also have them cater my family events at the house when I have a group of people pop in on me. Be sure to put them on your list of places to eat and print out a menu and keep it on hand when you need to feed a bunch of people in a hurry.‎

The Beach House in LBI is only open for breakfast on the weekends, but they have great breakfast.

The prime rib sandwich is great. It's too big for one person to eat, so we always split one. Enjoy!

What a great dinner! My family went to the Colts Neck Inn for Thanksgiving & it was great. We had the family style dinner w/ turkey carved tableside, so much fun & the food was amazing. Even though the restaurant was packed the service & staff was exceptional. This was our first holiday here & we will definatley be back again. Most restaurants are hectic & disorganized on holidays but they were extremely organized & efficient. Thank you Colts Neck Inn for helping us celebrate our Thanksgiving !

dtutelman wrote about Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty

... and I live "down the shore". When my family wants to get together for seafood, Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty is where we choose to go. Just got back from their Thanksgiving buffet, and I felt I had to share a recommendation. Wonderful food, outstanding service, and we had a window table just to top it off. The price is quite reasonable for such a spread. (I took off a point for ambiance because the piano player drove me nuts. I'm a musician myself, and I usually love their background piano. Didn't like this guy, though. Otherwise, it would have been five stars in all categories.) My own favorites were the candied yam, dark meat chicken, apricot stuffing, crusted salmon, and the seafood pescador -- and let's not forget the real hot fudge sundae for dessert.

TischaC wrote about Shut Up and Eat

After we put this breakfast round up on the site I realized that I hadn't been to all of them. This one was just 2 miles from my house and I've been dying to try it. We walked in and everyone in the entire place said Good Morning! The entire staff was super friendly. The food was quick and delicious. No frills here, but lots of unique and traditional food on the menu. We will definitely be back!

When visiting last week for breakfast we found pretty good food compared to what we have had in other restaurants. Everything was cooked properly and hot when it got to the table but I didn't like old eggs on a plate when it was to be pancakes and sausage. When it was returned to the kitchen they put the food on a new plate, but I question if the food was already contaminated. I would need assurances of cleanliness before returning. They still triedcharging me full price even though I returned everything.

You are guaranteed to walk out of Butlers with a smile on your face and delicious Boars Head sandwich in hand. Friendly people, great food, and environmentally conscious: Butler's is a traditional local deli in the heart of Rumson.

E Street Bagels on Rt. 35, Wall [across from K-mart] THE best bagels; pork roll, egg & cheese sand; lunch sand; catering too; fast in and out service; and FREE dilivery for even small orders, anytime! Try the bagels once and you will go out of your way to make this a regular stop. The staff sees me pull up and they start preparing my regular order before I get out of the car! They do this for all their regulars.

General Store Pork Roll sandwhich is cheaper, not better than Mike's Deli. They're 1 mile from one another, pick up a sandwhich from each and do the taste test, not the price test.

We didn't miss out. The Cove, a.k.a. Mariner's Cove, is definitely on there.

You all missed out on the best breakfast known to the jersey shore. THE COVE in Brielle is the best breakfast with a guaranteed to go plate. The omellete menu is beyond belief and overflowing the platter it is served on. The specials reflect the seasonal fare. The servers are polite and as sweet as the pastries. Don't pass it up now that the summer folks are gone the wait is neglible.

Awesome call, DJ. Allenwood General Store is in a class all it's own. Haven't been by there in years, but it definitely deserves a place on here.

What about the simple Jersey Shore breakfast of Pork Roll, Egg and Cheese? Today everyone seems to be on the go and this Jersey Shore sandwhich is the solution. My favorite is at Mike's Deli on Rt 34 in Wall. Service with a smile and great rolls make this the best spot. Other recommendations sound great and I look forward to trying a few that I haven't already.

GP928 commented on Review: Turning Point in Long Branch

Regarding the coffee comment, for $2.30 you get unlimited servings and can even take a cup to-go at no additional charge. Believe me, once you taste The Turning Point's distinct coffee blend you will be sure to get your money's worth! For those looking beyond the conventional, treat yourself to a French Press—for around the price of a gourmet cappuccino, you can choose from a variety of specialty beans that are coarsely ground and brewed in your own carafe for even richer flavor. I can't think of many (if any) breakfast places that can match that. Also good to note there are five locations of this most excellent restaurant.
