Alfredo Scala, 35, said his family bakery specializes in traditional Italian desserts. Among the lesser-known desserts outside Italian families are Sicilian cassata cake, which is a cake tort filled with cannoli cream and topped with marzipan and candied fruits, as well as rumbaba, a sponge cake pastry soaked in rum syrup. Scala said the bakery also has a variety of biscotti, eclairs, napoleans, and other large pastries.
