What the #%$! is 'the Jersey Shore sound'?

"How would I define the Jersey Shore sound? I've always been up in the hills and the mountains of New Jersey, but there are a lot of cover bands down there (at the Shore). That's probably rude, through. There's nothing wrong with cover bands -- cover bands are great. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Jersey Shore. We've met a lot of awesome people around Red Bank and Asbury Park."
