Ocean Grove’s Southside Johnny Lyon and his band, the Asbury Jukes, showed on Aug. 25 why after a career lasting more than three decades they’re still one of the world’s favorite bar bands with the first of two nights at Martell’s Tiki Bar on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk. Lyon and the Jukes – which included local singer/songwriter Bobby Bandiera on guitar and Matawan native John Conte on bass – whipped the crowd into a frenzy on such classic cuts as “This Time It’s for Real,” “Gin-Soaked Boy,” “Walk Away Renee” and the show-opening “All I Needed Was You.” Bob Burger also performed.
