Warped Tour heading back to Jersey
For the 15th year running, the Vans Warped Tour will be bringing punk rock of all shapes, sizes and ages to the masses this summer, and it was announced today that the annual jaunt will be making two Garden State stops in 2009, with shows at Camden's Susquehanna Bank Center on Friday, July 17 and Oceanport's Monmouth Park Racetrack on Sunday, July 19. The tour will not be returning to the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park that it had called home for the last several years.
Along with a pair of Jersey shows, the traveling punk rock circus also boasts a lineup that has a fair share of Jersey-connected acts, including veteran New Brunswick-bred punks the Bouncing Souls, electro-pop quintet Cash Cash, ska outfit Streetlight Manifesto and swinging soul ensemble Westbound Train, which features Garden State native Obi Fernandez on lead vocals.
Other notable acts on the bill for this year's festival include Celtic punk stalwarts Flogging Molly, Bad Religion and NOFX.
According to a press release, not all of the listed bands will be playing every date of the 46-city tour, and a full list of which bands will be performing at which stops can be found at http://www.warpedtour.com starting on April 1.
