Third Eye Blind joining No Doubt on Bamboozle line-up
The show may be more than five months away, but the folks behind the annual Bamboozle festival have wasted no time announcing a packed lineup of obvious choices and head-scratching-inducing selections.
Last week official word came out that previously announced headliners No Doubt and Fall Out Boy will be joined at the festival, set to be held May 2 and 3 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, by Third Eye Blind, a west coast band which competed for radio air space with No Doubt about 10 years ago. (Remember "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Jumper"?)
Now, I know that in previous years the Bamboozle has buffered their emo-centric lineup with novelty acts such as M.C. Hammer and "Weird Al" Yankovic. Given that Third Eye Blind hasn't had a hit in years and no one was clamoring for their return, it may be safe to assume that they're this year's novelty band. However, if that is the case, the Bamboozle may be setting up a talented by somewhat forgotten pop-rock band for a fall.
Or, maybe Third Eye Blind lead singer Stephan Jenkins and company are ready to wow the Jersey crowd and Bloodhound Gang and Gwar are this year's novelty acts. Only time will tell.
In other Bamboozle-related news, today LiveNation announced the event's lineup will also include Taking Back Sunday, Locksley, Lydia, Outbreak and the Morning Light.
For those playing at home, here are all of the bands that have been announced so far for the Bamboozle 2009: 3OH!3, A Rocket to the Moon, Ace Enders and a Million Different People, All Time Low, Bayside, Before Their Eyes, Bloodhound Gang, Boys Like Girls, Brokencyde, Cobra Starship, Danger Radio, Enter Shikari, Face to Face, Fall Out Boy, Forever the Sickest Kids, Gwar, Hey Monday, Hyper Crush, Locksley, Lydia, Mac Lethal, Mercy Mercedes, the Morning Light, Never Shout Never, New Found Glory, No Doubt, Now, Now, Every Children, Outbreak, Parkway Drive, Razia's Shadow as performed by Forgive Durden, Rise Against, Rotten Cotton and Some Poor Band, Scotty Don't, Sonny, Swimming with Dolphins, Taking Back Sunday, the Cab, the Get Up Kids, the Friday Night Boys, Third Eye Blind, Vision of Disorder and We the Kings.
