No film fan could argue with the claim that director Martin Scorsese knows a thing or two about music in the movies. (For proof, check out "Layla" in "Goodfellas," "Comfortably Numb" in "The Departed" and "Gimme Shelter" in, well, just about every one of his pictures.) And, whether through documentaries ("The Last Waltz," "No Direction Home: Bob Dylan," "Shine a Light") or feature films ("The Aviator," "Raging Bull") the director has also never had a problem bringing the lives of iconic figures in American culture to the big screen.
