Ray Davies records with Springsteen, Bon Jovi
It looks like Ray Davies has decided to call in some Jersey muscle for his next album; According to TwentyFourBit, the Kinks' frontman recently revealed to NJ.com that he drafted Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi for an upcoming album of re-recorded versions of Kinks classics.
The project evidently had its genesis at last fall's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame celebration concerts at New York City's Madison Square Garden, where Davies and Metallica kicked out the jams for a rocking rendition of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me."
It was at those shows at Springsteen and Davies met, and last month the pair teamed up in a New York City studio to record a new version of the Kinks' 1981 hit "Better Things."
Davies' upcoming album of Kinks revisions will also feature a guest spot by Bon Jovi on a re-recording of the 1971 single "Celluloid Heroes," and will also include guest spots from Lucinda Williams and the Killers, another band that knows a thing or two about collaborating with the Boss.
Davies will be performing at the Borgata in Atlantic City on Friday night (Feb. 26).
