'Eastbound and Down' soundtrack set for release
Finally, one of the best shows on television is getting an appropriately awesome soundtrack.
“Eastbound and Down,” the acclaimed HBO comedy starring Danny McBride and now in its third season, will deliver what is being accurately hailed in a recent press release as “the ultimate mix tape of the new millennium” on April 24 with the “Eastbound and Down Soundtrack” on Fat Possum Records.
This epic two-disc collection is set to be packed with plenty of old and new classics, from the raging blues of Freddie King’s “Going Down” which acts as the show’s theme song to “Your Touch” by the Black Keys, and along the way you get everything from grungy proto punk (the Stooges’ “Down on the Street,” “Miss X” by MC5) to jukebox-ready classic rock (“Sky Pilot” by the Animals, “Black Betty” by Ram Jam), and so, so much more, plus choice dialogue selections from the show’s legendary anti-hero, Kenny Powers.
So mark your calendars, fans of Kenny Powers and all things rock: April 24 can’t come soon enough.
