DJ Girl 6 enters SINulation Overload

Hot beats, state-of-the-art technology and one top-flight DJ will be colliding this weekend in Atlantic City as Las Vegas-based performer DJ Girl 6 gives her SINulation Overload project its world premiere on Saturday night (Dec. 5) at the Casbah in the Trump Taj Mahal.

Speaking with Metromix Jersey Shore this summer, DJ Girl 6 -- a star in the world of video remixing and a self-described "nerd" -- gave us the inside scoop on what club-goers can expect from SINulation Overload, a show that combines high-tech props, video and special effects from producer Ian Herrington.

"SINulation Overload is supposed to be like all your senses are overloaded, sight (and) sound, because it's video and it's DJing," DJ Girl 6 explained. "But, they're just going to take it one step further (by) making me, instead of just a DJ, like a partial android, and it's going to be very, very theatrical, which I just can't fucking wait until they're done with it.

"They're going to do things like upload me at the beginning of every show. ... We can't give away all the tricks, but it will very vividly appear that I am being uploaded and downloaded on every show and while I'm DJing I will very clearly appear to be a hologram and there will be a plethora of characters, including robots, that will appear at various points throughout the shows."

As a performer who has spun for crowds around the world, DJ Girl 6 said she particularly enjoys playing for the club-goers in Atlantic City.

"They're a lot of fun, overall; it's one of my more favorite crowds, definitely. I don't know, they're pretty open-minded. It definitely has hot and cold spots.

"You have your house crowds that stand pretty close of the front of my booth and they're just waiting, because they know, they're like puppies, they're like, 'We know you're going to do it, we know you're going to do it,' because I play electro sometimes; I have this whole collection of electro videos that I made myself, and they know I'm going to play them for them and as soon as I play them they freak out. And then there's the bulk of them who like their contemporary like remix, top 40, hip-hop stuff, it's a nice mix of people."

According to a news release, Saturday night's performance at Casbah will serve as a special preview of SINulation Overload before DJ Girl 6 hits the road with the show in 2010, and the event will also be shot as a pilot for a national ad campaign.
