Bonnaroo meets its Garden State act quota
Hot on the heels of the announcement last week that this year's Coachella festival would feature sets from a pair of Jersey-connected acts, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has confirmed that it will also host its fair share of performers from the Garden State.
While Coachella is promising a performance by Bruce Springsteen-influenced Jersey rockers the Gaslight Anthem, Bonnaroo has gone to the source and booked Springsteen and the E Street Band for the festival, which is set to be held June 11 to 14 in Manchester, Tenn.
And while Coachella, which will be held April 17 to 19 in Indio, Calif., has booked indie rock trio the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which features Englewood native Karen O., Bonnaroo has booked, well, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as well.
Other Jersey-connected acts set to play Bonnaroo include Bloomfield-based alt-rockers Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Buffalo, N.Y.-bred jam band moe., which cut its teeth playing to the college crowds in New Brunswick, and Garden State native David Grisman, a mandolin player who frequently collaborated with Grateful Dead leader Jerry Garcia and who will be at Bonnaroo as a part of the David Grisman Quintet.
Held on a 700-acre farm 60 miles south of Nashville, Bonnaroo will feature over 120 bands and 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days.
