Progressive rock is a tough genre to sell - all too often, prog rockers get so bogged down in academic musical minutiae that they forget to well, rock. Fortunately, the members of Plainfield-based progressive and experimental rock outfit Hyla Brook walk the fine like of prog rock better than most.
With a core comprised of three guys who met as music majors at Montclair State University, Hyla Brook brings a unique, unpredictable energy to their sound. "We should call our genre Apple Jacks rock," the band says on its MySpace page, "we play what we like."
