“Jeff was really there, playing two characters in the movie. He had to have his Kevin Flynn performance down and he had to have his Clu character down. [As Clu,] he would come in and do the whole scene on set with the other actors in the environment and we’d facial capture his performance and photograph the scene.
“It wasn’t until a year later when we got back to Los Angeles that we started taking all that data and applying it to the digital character. What’s great about that is not only do you have Jeff Bridges driving the performance of a younger version of himself, you have Jeff Bridges driving the performance based on being in the moment with other actors. You truly have Jeff Bridges in two roles.”
