It's not a waste of time." Giacchino's acceptance speech is exactly the opposite of what the Des Moines' leadership is telling our kids. Sebring et al. say that the arts is a waste of time and money.

The only reason to watch the Oscars is to make fun of it. In that regard, last night was a great success.

Did anyone else find it weird that the MOVIE industry's biggest night opened with a song from a TELEVISION/BROADWAY star--Neil Patrick Harris?
