Labor Day weekend was celebrated here in the colors of red, white and blush, as the Jazz It Up Wine and Food Festival pulled in thousands of patrons to enjoy the picture-perfect weather that graced the weekend.
The Garden State Wine Growers Association hosted its annual festival sponsored by the Asbury Park Press on Saturday and Sunday at Allaire Village here.
The weekend brought wine drinkers, jazz fans and nature lovers together to sample the offerings of 23 wineries and vineyards and listen to music in the cool shade.
On Sunday, Kathy Bullock of GPS Inc. of New Egypt, the event organizers, said Saturday alone had 5,000 paid visitors at the festival, with another 3,000 coming just to walk through and visit, rather than taste.
