Following renovations last summer, Chubby's Waterside Cafe has morphed into Fixx, an upscale nightclub aimed at adding a new flavor to Red Bank's after hours.
"The town has evolved and we are trying to evolve with it,'' owner Michael Gilson said. "We felt that after 15 years as Chubby's, it was time for a change, and time to try going in a different direction.''
Instead of a college-themed night, Gilson said Fixx now targets an older crowd. The new club has shied away from a Chubby's staple, live entertainment, and added 10 flat-screen televisions mounted around the dance floors.
Instead of cover bands filling the schedule, music videos and DJs will keep the place rocking into the night, Gilson said.
