The 16th annual Asbury Music Awards is a lock for Nov. 8 at The Stone Pony, and the final list of this year's nominees is set to be unveiled soon.
So, throughout October, The Saint and The Asbury Music Company -- the enterprise that produces the event each year -- are offering up a preview by showcasing some of the area music scene's most committed players.
On Wednesday (Oct. 8), the venue hosts "A Night In Progress," an evening of all new material featuring Jersey's Glen Burtnik, Rick Barry, Tommy Strazza and Kelly Carvin, along with New York City's Bret Mosley and Massachusetts singer/songwriter Justin Hillman.
On Friday (Oct. 10), The Saint presents Old Bridge rockers Tunnels to Holland along with Smoking Aces and Dugger, Indiana, punk-blues-raga rockers Philpot.
On Saturday (Oct. 11), don't miss Clamfight, Sekond Skyn, Anon, Blinded By Anger and Stagger.
On Oct 24, The Saint hosts T.W.i.N.E., playing its first Asbury Park show in nearly year. Formed in 1997, the progressive metal act (The World is Not Enough) has opened for such heavyweights as Type O Negative, The Union Underground, Adema, Drowning Pool, Apex Theory, Bile, Gwar, Finger Eleven, Powerman 5000 and Clutch, according to the band's Web site.
T.W.i.N.E. played the Asbury Music Awards ceremony in 2006 and 2007 and has earned nominations that include Top Live Performance, Top Male Vocalist and Top Heavy Rock Act (which the band won in 2006).
Now consisting of vocalists Rick Carr and Ryan Edgar, bassist Andrew Sacher, drummer Keith Wood, guitarist Scott Fraser and keyboardist Dave Cohen, T.W.i.N.E. is currently working on its latest album, "Autopsia," due out by the end of the year. Also performing will be Brooklyn acts Shiragirl, Gonna Get Got and Teflon Johnny.
Old Bridge's Tunnels to Holland will perform Oct. 10 at The Saint in Asbury Park.
